Creating a User-Friendly Ruby on Rails Application
The process of creating a Ruby on Rails application differs depending on whether or not you use Web Hosting. For more information, see Am I using Classic Hosting or Web Hosting?
NOTE: This article only applies to Deluxe and Unlimited Hosting accounts. Ruby on Rails is not supported for Java-enabled hosting accounts.
When your Rails application has been uploaded (FTP'd) to your hosting account, you can create a user-friendly, symbolic link to it.
If You Use Web Hosting
To Create a Symbolic Link to a Rails Application
- In your Web browser, go to coolexample.com/_h_admin_/index.php, where coolexample.com is your domain name.
- Go to the Ruby tab.
- In the Create Rails Symbolic Link panel, choose the appropriate application from the drop-down list.
- In the text box, enter the URL.
- Click Create.
If You Do Not Use Web Hosting
To Create a Symbolic Link to a Rails Application
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- Click Web Hosting.
- Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
- In the Tools section of the Hosting Control Panel, click the CGI Admin icon.
- Click the Ruby tab.
- In the Create Rails Symbolic Link panel, choose the appropriate application from the drop-down list.
- In the text box, enter the URL.
- Click Create.
If you do not see the option for CGI Admin, your hosting account does not support it. Grid-based Hosting does not support CGI Admin. See What type of hosting account do I have? for more information.
