What are the relay mail server settings on my dedicated or virtual private server?
The Hosting Control Panel indicates the location and the mail server name you should use to send mail from your server.
To Determine the Location and Name of the Mail Server for Your Dedicated or Virtual Private Server (VPS)
- Log into your Account Manager.
- Click Servers.
- The location of the mail server displays next to the server you want to use:
- AP — Asia Pacific
- EU — Europe
- No location displayed — United States
- Click Launch next to the VPS or Dedicated Server account that you would like to view the mail server for.
- In the Account Summary area, next to SMTP Services your mail server name is displayed.
NOTE: This is not the relay setting that you would use to set up your email client (like Outlook or Thunderbird). For information about setting up an email account on your dedicated server, see Setting up Email Accounts in Parallels Plesk Panel
In Linux, Parallels Plesk Panel uses qmail as the default mail server. The configuration file /var/qmail/control/smtproutes needs to have the line (including colon) :dedrelay.secureserver.net
. If your mail server is located outside the US, replace dedrelay with the mail server name located in the Hosting Control Panel.
In Windows, if Parallels Plesk Panel is installed, MailEnable uses a "smarthost" of dedrelay.secureserver.net
. If your mail server is located outside the US, replace dedrelay with the mail server name located in the Hosting Control Panel.
For the most part, you do not need to worry about these settings unless something is not working or you want to use a different mail server daemon on your dedicated machine.
NOTE: Our dedicated servers have an outbound email limit of 1000 per day. If you need to send more than 1000 emails per day, please call Customer Support or open a support ticket to request a higher limit.
