Accessing Your Online Storage Using Windows XP
Windows XP comes with a network manager that you can use as an FTP client. You use an FTP client to access your Online Storage® from a remote location.
To access Online Storage via Windows XP Network places you will need :
- FTP User Name
- This is the user name for your Online Storage account.
- FTP Password
- This is the password for your Online Storage account.
- website URL
- http://www.onlinefilefolder.com
- FTP Site URL
- ftp://www.onlinefilefolder.com
In order to use Windows XP Network Places as an FTP client, you need to create a network place for your Online Storage. Once you create a network place for your Online Storage, you can access your files and folders in the same way you access any of your folders in Windows.
To Create a Network Place
- In Windows XP, click Start and select My Network Places.
- Under the Network Tasks sidebar, select Add a network place. The Add a Network Place Wizard displays.
- Click Next.
- Select Choose another network location and click Next.
- Enter the Internet address for your Online Storage: ftp://www.onlinefilefolder.com. Click Next.
- Make sure that the "Log on anonymously" option is not selected. Enter your Online Storage user name. Click Next.
- The name of your network place displays. Provide a nickname if you want or click Next to accept the default.
- Click Finish to complete the set up.
After you click Finish, your network place opens in a new window, and the “Log On As” window displays. Enter your FTP (Online Storage) password and click Log On.
You can open your network place at anytime by selecting Start > My Network Places and clicking on the Online Storage.
