What is Java?
Java is an object-oriented, platform-independent, open-source programming language developed by Sun Microsystems. Java applets are programs written in Java that are embedded in other applications, typically a Web page. Java servlets and JavaServer Pages (JSPs) are server-side components written in Java that handle requests from Web clients.
Note that Java (JSP
files) is not the same as JavaScript (JS
files).
NOTE: All hosting accounts purchased after July 11, 2017 do not support Java. Existing accounts with Java enabled are not affected by this update — unless you manually disable Java. Once disabled, you cannot re-enable Java.
This has no impact on JavaScript files on your hosting account.
For more information, see the Java home page.
