Which programming languages do you support with CGI?
Our base CGI language support on Deluxe and Premium Linux shared hosting includes the following:
- PERL (v 5.8.0)
- PHP (v 4.3.11 & 5.1.2)
- Python (v 2.3 & 2.4)
- Ruby on Rails (v 1.1.6, v1.2.6, v2.0.5, v2.1.2, v2.2.2, & v2.3.2)
Other languages:
Applications written in a compiled language such as C++ are not supported unless the applications are compiled specifically to run under the Linux operating system.
NOTE: You cannot use Java and Ruby on Rails together on your hosting account. If you enable Java, you can no longer use Ruby on Rails.
All hosting accounts purchased after 7/11/2011 do not support Java. Existing accounts with Java enabled are not affected by this update — unless you manually disable Java. Once disabled, there you cannot re-enable Java.
Web Hosting accounts do not support Java. You can identify which version of hosting you are using by its label in your Account Manager. If your hosting account is listed as Web Hosting, your account does not support java.
