Creating a Virtual Directory on Your Windows Hosting Account
Using your Windows-based hosting account's control panel, you can create, edit, and customize permissions for virtual directories on your website.
To Create a Virtual Directory
- Log in to your HostingDude Account LOGIN.
- Click Web Hosting.
- Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
- In the Tools section of the Hosting Control Panel, click the IIS Management icon.
- To create a new directory, select the parent directory and click Create.
- Enter the directory name. To create multiple directories, enter a comma-delimited list.
- Select Application Root as the directory permissions, and then click OK.
NOTE TO FRONTPAGE USERS: Microsoft FrontPage manages all of the directory and subdirectory permissions on your website. If you created custom directories on your website, or you are using another tool to build and or manage your website, switching to FrontPage may cause some problems. It can overwrite all of your directory permissions and render your site unusable.
