Configuring Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall Interfaces

Inside and outside interfaces allow the creation and modification of firewall access rules on the ASA 5505.

To Configure Cisco ASA 5505 Interfaces

1. In a Web browser, navigate to: https://[your firewall management IP address] (You might receive a number of security certificate warnings. If you accept the certs and save them as Trusted, you will avoid warnings in the future).

   NOTE: Depending on which Cisco ASDM version you have installed, several options might display. If so, click Run ASDM Applet.

2. When prompted, type your server User name and firewall password. Click OK. You will be prompted to login twice.
   

   NOTE: Your browser must have Java enabled and allow pop-ups from your firewall management IP.

3. In the Device Manager application tool bar, click the Configuration icon.
4. Click the Interfaces icon in the left menu.
5. In the Interfaces panel, click the interface you want to edit.
6. Click Edit.
7. Configure the interface and click OK.
8. Click Apply.

NOTE: If you do not click Apply, you will be prompted to apply changes the next time you view access rules.
