Verifying the Phone Number for Your Certified Domain
After email verification is complete, we need to verify the phone number, as listed in the contact information in the Whois database. You can initiate the phone verification through the Domain Manager. We'll place an automated call to the number listed in the contact information and give you the PIN for completing the verification.
NOTE: If the domain has the same contact phone numbers as a domain you already certified, the system will recognize the match and, as you begin this step, it will thank you and indicate that another phone call is not required.
To Verify the Phone Number for Your Certified Domain
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- Next to Domains, click Launch.
- Click the domain name you are validating.
- In the Certified Domain area of the Domain Enhancements section click Verify.
- Verify the Phone Number and Ext.(optional) fields, make any required changes, and click Next.
- Click Call Me Now.
NOTE: The incoming call will delay approximately 10 seconds. Dial-up users must close their Internet connections within that time to receive the incoming call on the same phone line.
- The incoming call will provide you with a PIN code. When you receive the call, you must press '1' on your telephone keypad in order for the automated system to say the PIN number. The number will be repeated twice.
- In the Verification PIN field, enter the PIN, and then click OK.
NOTE: The automated message to complete the telephone verification step is provided in English only. The requester, therefore, must be able to understand the message in order to perform the necessary actions.
