If you want someone to manage the DNS for your domain names without having full access to your account, you can make that person a Premium DNS Account Administrators.

To assign Account Administrators to manage the DNS for your domain names, you must have a Premium DNS account. For more information, see Upgrading to Premium DNS.

Premium DNS Account Administrators can have read and/or write access to any of the following Premium DNS features:

  • Advanced settings (Secondary DNS, DNSSEC, and vanity nameservers)
  • Reports
  • Templates
  • Zone File Editor

In your account, you create folders with the domain names you want your Account Administrators to access. When Account Administrators log in to their own accounts and go to the DNS Manager, the folders to which you gave them access display in the DNS Dashboard. Account Administrators do not need to purchase Premium DNS to access the folders.

Adding an Account Administrator

To add an Account Administrator, log in to your Premium DNS account and send an invitation to your Account Administrator.

To Add an Account Administrator

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Premium DNS.
  3. Next to Premium DNS, click Launch.
  4. From the Admin tab, click Add Account Administrator. The Manage Your Account Settings page displays.
  5. In the Account Administrator section on the right, enter the required information, and then click Invite. Your new Account Administrator receives an email with the subject "Invitation to manage resources for [Your Name]."
  6. The Account Administrator clicks the link in the email to to accept the invitation.

  6. Select the domains you want to add to the folder, and then, from the Organize menu, select Copy to Folder.
  7. Select the folder you want to add the domain names to, and then click OK.

Providing Access to Account Administrators

After creating folders and moving domain names into them, you can provide your Account Administrators access to the DNS for your domain names. From the Admin tab, you can assign Account Administrators on the Users or Folders pages. Specifically, you can assign more than one Account Administrator (user) to a folder from the Users page, or you can assign more than one folder to an Account Administrator from the Folders page.

NOTE: If you give Account Administrators access to a folder, they can access all domain names in that folder. You must give them access to each folder you want them to manage.

After you assign access, your Account Administrators can log in to their own accounts, go to the DNS Manager, and manage the DNS for your domain names in the folders you assigned them.
