Creating a Web Control Page for SSL Validation
When requesting an SSL certificate, you can verify your domain by setting up a website control page or a domain zone control record. If you choose this method, we send you an email that explains how to create a TXT record or a .html page.
To verify ownership of your domain name, you can create a web control page on the root of your hosting account.
If you would like to create a TXT record by using your domain name's DNS, see Creating a TXT Record for SSL Validation.
Adding a Web Control Page to Verify Your Domain Name
When you create the Web control page, you need the unique ID we emailed you after you requested your certificate. Then, you need to upload it to the root of your hosting account.
To Add a Web Control Page to Verify Your Domain Name
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- Click SSL Certificates.
- Next to the certificate you want to manage, click Launch.
- From the Filters list, click Pending Requests, and then select the common name for the certificate you want to download.
- In the Request Progress area, click What's the hold up?
- Click Download verify domain html, and then download the file to your computer and save it as youruniqueid.html (where youruniqueid is the ID we gave you).
- Upload the file to your site's root directory (/). For more information, contact your hosting provider.
- Review the file by going to a Web browser and entering http://yourdomain.com/youruniqueid.html (where yourdomain is the domain name on your hosting account and youruniqueid is the ID that we gave you).
NOTE: Depending on your hosting provider, these changes can take up to 24-48 hours to become visible online.
