Using a drag and drop method within your FTP File Manager, you can copy or move files and folders to a new location or even copy a file or an entire folder within the directory in which it resides.
To Copy or Move a File or Folder Using Drag and Drop
- Log in to your HostingDude Account LOGIN.
- Click Web Hosting.
- Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
- From the Tools section, click FTP File Manager.
- Use the directory tree to navigate to the file or folder you want to copy or move.
- Click the item, drag it to the left, and drop it over the directory into which you want to place it.
- Select Move Here or Copy Here, depending on which action you want to perform. Select Cancel if you do not want to complete this action.
The selected item is now in the destination directory you selected.
To Copy a File or an Entire Folder within the Same Directory
- Use the directory tree to navigate to the file or folder you want to copy.
- Click the item you want to copy, drag it to the left, and drop it over the directory in which it already resides.
- Select Copy Here. This brings up the Copy Files or Directories screen.
- Rename the item or accept the default filename.
- Click OK.
A copy of your chosen file or folder is now in the same directory.
NOTE: If an item of the same name resides in the location where you have selected to copy the file or folder, you will be prompted as to whether you want to overwrite the existing directory and its contents.
