Using TXT Records from Google to Verify Domain Name Registration

To prove that you are a domain name's registrant, Google® lets you use TXT (Text) records. TXT records are part of your domain name's DNS that don't affect your website. They only display information that a DNS lookup can read. For more information, see What is DNS?

Before you begin, ensure you have the verification TXT value Google provides.

NOTE: You must use our nameservers to complete these steps. If you use a different set of nameservers, contact those nameservers' administrator for more information on adding a TXT record.

To Add a TXT Record to Verify Your Domain Name

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
2. Click Domain Manager.
3. From the DNS menu, select DNS Manager. The DNS Dashboard displays.
4. For the domain name you want to add a TXT record for, click Edit Zone. The Zone File Editor displays.
5. Click Add New Record.
6. From the Record type list, select TXT (Text).
7. Complete the following fields:
   • TXT Name — Type @.
   • TXT Value — Enter the entire TXT value Google provides. For example, enter "google-site-verification: yourtoken".
8. Click OK.
9. Click Save Zone File, and then click OK. The new record displays in the TXT (Text) section.
